To the Editor,
As president of the Shore Acres Property Owners Association, SAPOA, which sponsored the debate for the Democratic primary for village trustee two years ago, I was shocked to learn that Randi Robinowitz sent an email stating that the local Democratic Party would not participate in the primary debate for candidates for village trustee. I am not sure who made that decision, as neither the full Executive Committee nor all of the district leaders of the party were consulted.
When I ran for office, I sent for an agenda of honesty, transparency and openness, and welcomed the opportunity to talk to all. The only thing one has to fear is fear itself. I cannot understand why candidates, particularly two candidates that are not as well-known as others, would not seize the opportunity to let their views be known directly to and be questioned by their constituency.
It is simply a disingenuous step back to the Dark Ages.
