Rye police arrested a Bethel Connecticut woman for allegedly stealing from her employer’s Rye home. An investigation conducted by Rye Police Detectives resulted in the April 2 arrest of 30-year-old Joise Cabral-Rosa of Bethel, Connecticut.
On March 12, a report was filed regarding a missing ring that was a family heirloom passed down from one generation to the next. The resident reported after returning from work on February 2, 2026, she observed a drawer in her bedroom closet
had been rummaged through and jewelry was missing.
The only people with access to the residence was her cleaning company. Interviews were conducted with housekeepers and pawn shops were visited by Rye Detectives. A receipt from the Friendly Pawn Shop located in Danbury, CT, was found
linking Joise Cabral-Rosa, a former housekeeper, to the sale of jewelry at the location in late January. Unfortunately,
detectives were unable to recover the ring in time as it had already been melted down for scrap gold by the pawn shop.
Joise Cabral Rosa turned herself in today and was placed under arrest. Cabral-Rosa was charged with Petit Larceny, a class A
Misdemeanor and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th degree, a class A Misdemeanor. She was released on
her recognizance and ordered to return to Rye Court on April 16, 2026, at 9 a.m.
