Breast cancer walk back in-person

The American Cancer Society, host of the largest Making Strides Against Breast Cancer movement in the United States, will reunite—in person—on Sunday,
Oct. 17, in Westchester at Manhattanville College, providing reimagined and new ways to support and fund the future of breast cancer research and programs.
The event will be held in accordance with CDC and New York State guidelines to ensure the safety of all attendees. Last year’s walk became drive-through
events due to the pandemic.

Thousands of breast cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and corporate and community members are reuniting in Westchester and the Hudson Valley to
save lives and ensure no one faces breast cancer alone. Supporters are thrilled to come together to walk with precautions in place to protect health and safety of participants. Alternatively, a Making Strides On The Go app provides a 5K walk experience with program and music for those more comfortable walking in small groups close to home. To request the app, register to fundraise at makingstrideswalk.org.

One in eight women will fight breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer affects men too. Breast cancer just surpassed lung cancer to become the No. 1 diagnosed cancer worldwide. The American Cancer Society is the largest non-profit source of cancer research. Forty-one percent of Americans missed health checkups during the pandemic, including cancer screenings. Pre-pandemic, only 63% of women were up to date on mammograms. Visit cancer.org/get-screened.

No one should face breast cancer alone. The American Cancer Society helpline provides information and support 24/7 at 1-800-227-2345.

The American Cancer Society is on a mission to free the world from cancer. We invest in lifesaving research, provide 24/7 information and support, and work to
ensure that individuals in every community have access to cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. For more information, visit cancer.org. (Submitted)
