Westchester County Legislator and Minority Whip James Nolan (R- Yonkers, Eastchester, Bronxville) presented a $17,000 check to the Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corp. (EVAC). The funds will support critical advanced training programs for EVAC members, who provide essential emergencymedical services to residents of the Town and Tuckahoe. This investment in professional development underscores the Board’s commitment to ensuring the highest quality emergency medical care for all Westchester residents.
Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps (EVAC), founded in 1952 as Westchester County’s first volunteer ambulance service, has provided emergency medical services to Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe for over 70 years. This dedicated team of volunteers continues to deliver compassionate, high-quality emergency care to residents throughout the community.
Nolan said, “This funding … will be used to provide training for the crew and improve the overall efficiency of emergency response services. EVAC, also known as Eastchester EMS, plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of local residents. We must continue to deliver funding for our frontline workers. They are the backbone of our communities, tirelessly dedicating themselves to the health and safety of others.”
Legislator Judah Holstein (D- Eastchester, New Rochelle, Tuckahoe) said, “As an Eastchester resident, I have been a direct beneficiary of their service; they have responded to emergencies in my home and saved the lives of members of my own family. They are true heroes in our community, and it is an honor to support the work they do.”
EVAC President Jude Valerioti said, “This funding is a clear reflection of your dedication to enhancing public safety, and we are excited about the opportunities it will provide. Ongoing training for our personnel will further strengthen our ability to serve the Eastchester community. We look forward to continuing our partnership with you and are confident that you will remain a strong advocate for emergency medical services in the future. Thank you again for your invaluable support.”
