Caryn Jennifer Akin and Brian Daniel Davis were married on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 on the lawn of the Larchmont Shore Club, overlooking Long Island Sound, in Larchmont, New York. Ashley Storms, a friend of the bride and groom, officiated. The bride wore a fitted sleeveless dress covered in Chantilly lace, with her mother’s bridal veil, also trimmed in Chantilly lace. The groom wore a gray tuxedo with a silver tie. A dinner reception followed at the club, which included a dance by the wedding party, choreographed by the bride.
The bride is an elementary school teacher in New York City. She graduated from Mamaroneck High School and Elmira College, received a master’s degree in literacy from College of New Rochelle, and received her Gifted and Talented certification from Hunter College.
The groom is a market analyst. He graduated from Warwick High School and Tufts University, and received an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado.
The maid of honor was Victoria Cuddy, formerly of Larchmont, and the best man was Brett Ochs. The bridesmaids were Courtney Akin, sister-in-law of the bride; Tara Quinn; Rebecca Zaltas; Liza Tresser; Allison Furkey, Sarah Rorimer, Alison Epstein; and Emma Davis and Molly Davis, sisters of the groom. Junior bridesmaids were Sophie Gauthier and Abby Gauthier, cousins of the groom. Flower girls were Meredith, Charlotte and Norah Fiske. Groomsmen were Brad Akin, brother of the bride; Justin Akin, nephew of the bride; Ben Goodpaster, cousin of the groom; Nathan Couchon; Brian Petrus; Doug Krauze; and Matt Schroettnig. “Ring Security” were Nicholas Tenore and Jake Tenore, cousins of the groom.The ceremony included Bible readings by Marilyn Bradshaw, aunt of the bride; a reading of a children’s book by the bride’s fifth-grade teacher; a song by the a cappella group, Restated, with the bride’s brother, Brad, as soloist; and the giving of roses to the mothers.
Mrs. Davis is the daughter of Carol Bradshaw Akin, a teacher, of Larchmont and Cooperstown, New York, and the late Dr. Clayton L. Akin, former superintendent of schools in the Rye Neck school district.
Mr. Davis is the son of Dr. Judith Rae Davis, a retired professor of English and a certified acupressure specialist of Warwick, New York, and Daniel Davis, a retired superintendent of schools, and stepmother Laura Davis, also of Warwick.
Following a honeymoon cruise in Alaska and a trip to Hawaii, the couple will reside in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
